Dragged Across Concrete feels like you're dangling on the end of a meat hook. It's painful and tense and at the same time, a little ridiculous... Even then, it's full of surprises, and riches for those who like it darker.

The film is meant to be an endurance test, from its usage of violence and slurs, to its surprising slow burn, something you don’t often see with films of this calibre. But it doesn’t have enough focus to be riveting.

I thought (incorrectly so) that the cast would pull this movie out of the garbage, I WAS WRONG. This director IS THE WORST EVER! The sequences make NO SENSE in the order they are shown. ABSOLUTELY NO CHEMISTRY between ANY OF THE ACTORS. Vaughn is the only one who pulls it off, and just barely. Conclusion, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. THIS DIRECTOR SUCKS.

Zahler manages to deliver the genre goods while challenging audience assumptions and deliberately pushing everybody's buttons. Additionally its quotable dialogue is pulpy but not smugly self aware which is a real feat these days.
