What to Know

Critics Consensus

While its impact is blunted by an overly reverential approach to its subject, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story remains a reasonably entertaining biopic of the martial arts legend.

Sheila Johnston Independent (UK) Jason Scott Lee does his namesake proud in the title role, but the film tries to court too many different audiences, with lethal results. Nov 14, 2017 Full Review Owen Gleiberman Entertainment Weekly Rated: B- Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times It is invariably ominous in any biopic if, toward the end of the running time, the hero complains of a headache. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...an often engrossing biopic that filters its subject’s existence through an admittedly (and entertainingly) stylized lens... Rated: 3.5/4 Mar 1, 2024 Full Review Chris Ward Flickering Myth If you go into Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story expecting accuracy and fact then you aren't going to get it but that doesn't stop it being a highly entertaining movie full of humour, action and romance Jan 12, 2021 Full Review Alistair Lawrence Common Sense Media Martial arts biopic has violence, sex, racist language. Oaklee D An entertaining yet poorly aged biopic with hammy acting, cheesy early 90s Kung Fu action sequences and even cheesier one liners and dialogue. This movie is an example of being a absolute cheese fest and also a fun time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/14/24 Full Review Liam K Grew up watching this movie and I'd watch it again and again because I love the plot and the chemistry between Jason Scott Lee and Lauren Holly. Whoever hates this movie needs to open their eyes and give their heads a little wobble. I've never seen any of Bruce Lee's movies but this is the only one I'd watch because I can't seem to picture anyone as Bruce Lee other than Jason Scott Lee. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review Steve D Its weird approach didn't work for me but it is entertaining. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/01/23 Full Review C. M One of my favorite films. Highly recommend Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/02/22 Full Review Audience Member If you love martial arts and want to see into shoa-long ( Little Dragon - Bruce) This is a must see movie for you with a very sincere touch on the reality about Bruce Lee and his life.
