Ryan Cracknell Movie Views A poorly animated tale that offers little new to the genre or the Dungeons and Dragons franchise in which it is based. Jan 16, 2008 Full Review David Cornelius DVDTalk.com Please forgive me if I have a hard time taking such character names as "Sturm Brightblade" and "Flint Fireforge" seriously. douglas h For those complaining about the names of the characters or the 80s feel of the animation, you completely miss the point of this movie. It held true to the book and took the viewer back to their youth when the first discovered the trilogy. I only wish they could have made the next 2 books into a similar movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/19/22 Full Review robert p What a rip-off they characters are almost like stick figures and its impossible to follow the story line. P.S. you have been warned, do not buy this video! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Brianna L I read the books. the *movie* did not do the books justice. the cgi was in poor taste, and the fact that the scriptwriters took creative detours from the books shows how careless and offhanded the stories were taken. Also, the addition of Onyx was foolish to those that follow the novels. Stick to the book storyline to the letter, dont add CGI and perhaps the movie would be much better off. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/20 Full Review Audience Member It's not the greatest animation but its got good voice acting, follows the plot fairly decent and great music score. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member To say they butchered the original story would be an understatement. It might be more appropriate to say they ran the novel through a wood chipper, then a paper shredder, burned the remains and made a story from what was left. The quality is more of what I would expect from high school students making their first animated short. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member While I admit that it was nice seeing something with characters like Raistlin, Tasslehoff and Fixban, this Dragonlance film suffers from two major problems. The story is extremely junenile and in the veign of early early D&D and the animation isn't that great. Clunky 2d animation akin to 80s Saturday morning cartoons (think He-Man) with the odd CG dragon thrown in for a completely bizarre appearance. But still... being a fan of fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons and even the DragonLance world, I managed to garner some enjoyment here even if it wasn't a recommendable amount.
