Liz Braun Toronto Sun Dragonslayer is an amazing window into a particular part of the culture and how we live now. You'll think about Skreech -- his father's day gift for his son, his new job at a bowling alley -- for a long time after you leave the theatre. Dec 16, 2011 Full Review Stephen Cole Globe and Mail Like many good documentary filmmakers, Tristan Patterson is a talented eavesdropper who lets characters articulate overriding themes. Rated: 3/4 Dec 16, 2011 Full Review Peter Hartlaub San Francisco Chronicle In following this scattered character around, "Dragonslayer" director Tristan Patterson makes a very purposeful documentary about the pessimistic worldview of the nation's youth, and what that means for the future. Rated: 3/4 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Jordan M. Smith IONCINEMA.com Dragonslayer authentically portrays Sandoval in all his adrift glory while seeming to blur the lines of what a doc can be with effortless craft. Nov 12, 2020 Full Review Ed Travis Hollywood Jesus The dragon effects are fantastic and the monster really becomes an integral character in the story. The film has great practical effects and more heart than studio films generally crank out... Apr 3, 2020 Full Review Alexandra Hayward CineVue It is both heady and bleak to watch: an exquisite portrait of a lost boy chasing old dreams. Rated: 4/5 Jan 5, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member 7/10 nice quaint thematic Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't know why this movie exists. This guy is a "professional" skateboarder and I use professional loosely...he sucks I don't know how he even got any endorsements. I'm just glad he got a job to help support his kid. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Dragonslayer gives a somewhat interesting look at the burnout skater Skreech. Unfortunately that's all there really is to it. Skreech as a person isn't particularly likeable; he bums everything off other people, gets drunk, does drugs and doesn't seem all that happy about skating either as well as not being all that bothered about his baby son. What can I say? He's not all bad, there's a certain nomadic quality to him that i like, and i can't say his lifestyle is THAT terrible, he seems to have a good heart and considering i used to hang around with people like him & his friends he's probably just looking for a solid opportunity or inspiration in his life. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Picked this up thinking it was going to be another Dogtown and the Z Boyz. Ends up being a commentary about having nothing. Sad film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Not entirely impressed with this movie. There's nothing really bad about it, but the subject matter of this homeless, druggie, skateboarder didn't hold my interest. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Skreech (just about) holds his life together better than the crumbling pools he skates in. Insightful documentary.
