Audience Member Er Di/Drifters - a tender story about a father's wish to have a relationship with his son and the unfortunate cultural and situational context that prohibits that - may move a tad slow for some, and there are bits n' pieces of the storyline that may leave one slightly bewildered. However, it is nevertheless an impressive example of how little need be said (or done, for that matter) to express a continuum of emotions, especially when enhanced by stunningly thoughtful & intentional cinematography. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Love Asian cinemetography and how they use dialogue, which usually isn't much. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member a bit slow, some poignant moments. oddly cold, considering the subject, a bit restrained. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member If you're looking for a good arts film, go somewhere else. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie was ok, I'd give it 3 stars but I'll give an extra half because it's good material for my thesis :p Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member this movie had so many things building up to it, but the end absolutely sucked. it was a cool glimpse into a life of an illegal immigrant, but really pointless in the end... David Walsh World Socialist Web Site Wang's film conveys the widespread desperation and alienation of young people in China under conditions of a widening social gap. And also their illusions, about America in particular. Feb 16, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
