At least through 3/4 of the movie, you sit there with hope that it's going to go a certain way...then in the final scene, they give you a scene that is the most depressing choice they possibly could have made. See more Ram L Jul 24 Maybe I lack sensitivity or “emotional depth” or whatever they call it these days — but to me, the movie went like this for the while that I watched it: (1) Olivia Wilde makes exaggerated facial expressions, laughing for no reason etc, for 15 minutes with lots of people around her, talking. (2) Next scene, four people are camping, two of them are talking about their childhoods, then they kiss. (3) Olivia Wilde is at it again with the facial expressions — but the other characters’ faces suggest some “emotionality” is going on. By now some 30 minutes have passed. Then: (4) One character is concerned about the well-being of someone called Scott, and... Well, you (don’t) get the idea. A reviewer right here on RT summarized it in one memorable line: “classic mumblecore unlikeable character bull.” See more charlotte t Jul 15 I really loved the simplistic nature of this movie, directed solely by realism. The character's relationships are intricate and interesting, blurring the lines of being 'just friends' whilst also, simultaneously, confirming their friendship. Although anticlimactic, I must admit that I loved the ending of the movie in the way it answered every question about the bond between Kate and Luke yet also showcased how they are not meant to be together.
