      Critics Consensus

It may deliver the over-the-top action pieces, but Drive Angry prefers to work safely within grindhouse formula than do something truly unique.

john k Suspend reality and enjoy Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/01/23 Full Review Dani M I'm not a big fan of grindhouse movies - or any "exploitation" movies for that matter- but I fell in love with this one when I recently watched it. The action is aptly fast-paced; the gore is as shocking it should be without being overdone; the CGI is OK; and the acting, with the exception of Nicolas Cage, is perfect. Regarding the latter, the performances of Amber Heard (as Piper Lee) and William Fichtner (as The Accountant) deserve special mention because they're the kinds of performances that you're bound to remember for a long time after watching the movie. Indeed, Heard's ability to weave together unapologetic bad-assery with comedy in a way that communicates agency and strength in this movie shows exactly why she was the perfect choice for Mera in Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021) and Aquaman (2018). All that said, I did have some hang-ups about the movie's subpar racial and gender representations and about some of its CGI not being perfectly done. Still, I would, overall, recommend it to most lovers of action, thriller, and horror films as well as to fans of Fichtner and Heard. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/30/23 Full Review Nene N Drive Angry Movie Summary. Nene Nyny Describe the movie Drive Angry (2007) in the best way possible I'm sorry, but there is a slight error in your question. The movie Drive Angry was actually released in 2011, not 2007. However, I can still describe the movie for you. Drive Angry is a high-octane action-thriller that follows the story of John Milton (played by Nicolas Cage), a hardened criminal who has broken out of hell to avenge the murder of his daughter and rescue his granddaughter from a satanic cult. Along the way, he teams up with a beautiful and deadly woman named Piper (played by Amber Heard), who becomes his unlikely ally in a race against time to stop the cult's leader (played by Billy Burke) from completing a ritual that will bring about the end of the world. The movie is full of intense car chases, epic shootouts, and over-the-top action sequences that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. It also features a great soundtrack and some truly memorable characters, including a mysterious accountant (played by William Fichtner) who is hot on John Milton's trail. Overall, Drive Angry is a wild and entertaining ride that will appeal to fans of adrenaline-fueled action movies. Nene Nyny Write a review for this movie Sure, here's a review of Drive Angry: Drive Angry is an adrenaline-fueled thrill ride from start to finish. Nicolas Cage's performance as John Milton, a hardened criminal who has broken out of hell to avenge his daughter's murder and save his granddaughter, is intense and captivating. Amber Heard is equally impressive as Piper, a tough and resourceful woman who becomes Milton's unlikely ally. The movie is packed with over-the-top action sequences, from car chases to shootouts, all set against a backdrop of occultist themes and a race against time to stop a cult from bringing about the end of the world. The cinematography and soundtrack complement the action perfectly, creating a truly immersive experience. One of the standout performances comes from William Fichtner as the mysterious and enigmatic accountant, who adds a layer of depth and intrigue to the story. The chemistry between the actors is palpable, adding to the overall enjoyment of the film. While the plot may be somewhat convoluted, Drive Angry more than makes up for it with its non-stop action and thrilling set pieces. It's the kind of movie that doesn't take itself too seriously and invites the audience to sit back and enjoy the ride. In conclusion, if you're looking for a wild and entertaining action movie, Drive Angry is definitely worth checking out. With its great cast, pulse-pounding action, and occultist themes, it's a fun and satisfying cinematic experience. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review cameron c This is a truly batsh*t insane movie, but it's very funny. William Fichtner and Cage compete in who can chew the most scenery, there's a lot of craziness going on, a lot of memorable quotes, and an entertaining premise. Overall, it's not haute couture by any metric, but it's good fun. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/04/23 Full Review John R A classic Nicolas Cage I-need-to-pay-off-my-castle role. Some wild action sequences and a pretty bizarre satanic cult plot mean that there are always interesting things happening on screen, but the overall quality never gets above mediocre. The peak performance of the movie is definitely the scene at the roach motel where Cage blows away like twelve people while maintaining sexual contact with the waitress he's bedding. Honestly, that one scene may have been the idea that spawned the whole movie. Writer dreamed it up and was like "Now what kind of movie would fit around this?" and presto! Drive Angry was born.
