Patrick Lussier
Patrick Lussier cut his teeth as an editor for television series and for the horror films of such luminaries as Wes Craven and Guillermo del Toro, before stepping into the director's chair for shockers of his own. He started climbing the ladder as an assistant editor on the popular series "21 Jump Street," featuring a young Johnny Depp, before becoming a full-fledged editor for such shows as the action-packed "MacGyver." He forged a career-boosting relationship with horror maven Wes Craven, editing many of Craven's later films, beginning with the revisionist Freddie Krueger tale "New Nightmare" and including "Scream," its sequels, and "Red Eye." Before Guillermo del Toro was a horror fan's household name, Lussier edited his "Mimic," in which Mira Sorvino battles mutant insects. Lussier's first taste of directing came with the straight-to-video horror sequel "The Prophecy 3: The Ascent," with Christopher Walken resuming his lead role. Lussier would see a theatrical release for his next directorial effort, "Dracula 2000," with Gerard Butler as the infamous count. While still editing for Craven and others, Lussier made a few minor films before finding financial if not critical success with the 3D slasher flick "My Bloody Valentine." Lussier has groomed his son, Devin, for the business, taking him on as a contributor to the visual effects on his films.
