      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

This gory, senses-assaulting slasher film is an unpretentious, effective mix of old-school horror stylings and modern 3D technology.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/24 Full Review Ari B If you like twists and turns and lots of blood, I highly recommend (but there's full nudity so keep that in mind) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/24 Full Review Audience Member 15 years later and this movie is insanely awesome! Patrick Lussier of the 'Scream' movies and 'Dracula 2000' directs again remaking the 1981 slasher The premise is basically the same but with much more thrills and chases and of course lots of blood to spare In the mining community town of Harmony everything was normal that is until serial killer Harry Warden went crazy He killed over 22 people in the mines he once worked in and supposedly died from police gunfire 10 years later everyone has seemed to have moved on...but a new string of murders has everyone baffled Could it possibly be Harry Warden back from the dead to finish what he started? Our main characters Tom, Sara, and Axel have to figure out who's behind the latest killing spree while also trying to balance out a love triangle between them I absolutely love the gore and the kills The 3D is utilized effectively throughout too; keep in mind it was the first R-rated horror film restarted the trend thanks in part to Avatar opening a few months later Most of the time now 3D is just used as a cheap gimmick for money-making and resulting in terrible post-conversion, if used sparingly though it allows the audience to immerse themselves enhancing the terror by squirming but also reveling in the carnage I do appreciate that composer Marco Beltrami did the score per usual There's terrific character actors in here in horror from Tom Atkins to Kerr Smith to Jensen Ackles to Jaime King King makes for a terrific final girl/scream queen too and the twist near the end caught me off guard And we can't forget the traditional horror tropes this movie checks off were so used to although it did revive many classic horror traditions The original movie played it a bit safe and being heavily edited down later gaining a cult following This is still a damn good remake with lots of nudity and gore and big laughs to spare adding to its own schlocky ness It's entertaining, fast-paced, and keeps its status with an iconic slasher so it doesn't deserve to be overlooked because it's one of the better remakes for once Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/24 Full Review Mark D If you want to see a midget take a pick axe to the head, then this movie is for you. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/24 Full Review William D This is the worst film I have ever seen. Do not watch this. Watch only the original version not this remake which should never have been made. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Tammy Oler Bitch Media My Bloody Valentine has lously gender politics for a slasher movie, and that's both disappointing and disconcerting because the film has probably made enough money to merit a sequel and inspire other 3D horror movies. Dec 18, 2020 Full Review Kevin C. Johnson St. Louis Post-Dispatch In the end, the movie is a true blood-splashed valentine to fans of the cheesy genre that spawned it. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 24, 2020 Full Review Katey Rich CinemaBlend My Bloody Valentine 3D doesn't have nearly enough fun with either its jazzy technology or its inherently campy premise. Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 24, 2020 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The movie provides a few hearty laughs, a profusion of nonsensical stupidity, and plenty of so-bad-it’s-good moments to entertain viewers in the back row, whispering to each other about the inanity of it all. Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 15, 2023 Full Review Stephanie Archer Film Inquiry This film may be a remake of the 1981 classic but it creates its own identity, carving out its own place within the horror genre Feb 18, 2023 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Solving the crime and cheering on heroes is something of a lost cause, as most of the roles are just unintelligent enough to inspire disgust.
