Phil Harrison Guardian It would probably have benefited from fewer voices, a little more analysis and a clearer narrative through-line. However, the stories it tells are powerful enough to stick in the memory, as warnings from recent history. Rated: 3/5 Aug 15, 2025 Full Review Lissete Lanuza Sáenz Fangirlish Still worth watching for anyone interested in the behind-the-scenes of reality TV, and the dark side of the “health industry.” But don’t confuse this with a comprehensive look at the show or at the health craze that has taken over the US. Aug 17, 2025 Full Review Jeanine T. Abraham VisAbleBlackwoman (Medium) The documentary does a great job showing the complexity of this popular reality show that capitalized on the insecurities of larger-bodied individuals. Rated: 3/5 Aug 16, 2025 Full Review Ann Marie Hourihane Irish Independent There are three parts to this documentary series, and it is hard to distinguish between them. Yet it is, like The Biggest Loser itself, compulsive television. Aug 15, 2025 Full Review Christopher Campbell Nonfics (Substack) As always, it’s fascinating watching interviews with reality show producers where they appear to shrug off the negatives by insisting their program was always openly just about being entertainment. Aug 15, 2025 Full Review Andy Dehnart Reality Blurred Alas, it ends up doing the exact same thing as The Biggest Loser itself, and adds to Netflix’s pile of nonfiction that will serve as the definitive word about something important, yet ultimately fails on the most basic level. Michael W This showbiz docuseries was really good. The entire crew did a fantastic job on telling the story of what was really going on behind the scenes of the hit reality series The Biggest Loser. It was shocking, dramatic, and insane. It's all about achieving your ultimate goals in life and the cost of becoming famous. If you haven't seen this docuseries yet, check it out sometime. It's a must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/17/25 Full Review Tim D I’m taken back by the amount of people who frankly disassociate from the fact that America is statistically morbidly obese. This is was SHOW.. a TV SHOW. You’re telling me adults who got to that weight are also no longer capable of logical thought ie.. hey this may be just an entertainment based TV SHOW ….. that just so happens to also deliver results to an extent. This was a hard watch. Signed - a fit American who wants better for all the people…… hopefully Netflix restricts access to this to America…. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/25 Full Review R M The amount of hubris on disability by those involved in training and making of the show is unbelievable.
