Gunther (Thomas Gottschalk) works for years to devise a way to escape East Berlin, finally building a car fueled by vegetables that reaches high speeds. Just when he's ready to use it, the Berlin Wall falls. An evil American, Mr. B (Dom DeLuise), then buys Gunther's hometown so he can turn it into an industrial cesspool. Gunther heads to an L.A. car convention to sell his invention, hoping to buy back the town. But his car is stolen, and he must track it down amid the confusion of the city.
