Audience Member I felt the delivery was awkward and shouldn't have been a focal point of a story like this if the story they were telling was a good one and had anything to it. It's just two stories without enough material for one. Also, as far as the voice over narration goes... there was just too much of it. Oh, yay, unnecessary subtitles... that'll let the storytelling shine. This is not the Fiennes movie you are looking for, move along. You see how much I wrote, it's not always a bad thing when this much is written but this time it is. Dust is what this should have been turned to before anyone saw it, would have been more useful as actual dust. Oh look, Jimmy ‘Loose Thumbs' found the great Turkish treasure... sure he'll spend it all on a dope Lexus. Maybe I am underestimating it, but I don't like the storytelling narrative or style to be the most jarring thing about a movie. Sure, the final shoot-out is entertaining but one man against dozens of armed Turks.... c'mon, even Westley had help saving the Princess Bride. End is just totally dumb and stupid. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member This is not an easy movie. There is much violence and even some involving animals. It seems most critics failed to see past their reactions to understand the point of the violence. None of it was gratuitous but necessary to tell the story truthfully. The characters and motivations were not spoon fed to audiences in the first 10 minutes, which seems to "shake off the fleas" who cannot follow the saga through it's vast scope and incredible twists and revelations. Dust is an incredible movie, but hard...which some view as a negative while I count it as brilliance, if done well, as this move is. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Dust is dreck. One of the worst written westerns of all time. Every character in the film is portrayed unrealistically. I hated the character of Edge. Every other line that came out of his mouth was a curse word. I mean, I have no bias against cursing, but cursing has to be merited in order for it to work as a line in a script. The script has Edge constantly saying "fuck", over and over again. Also, the violence is way over the top, and happens way too often in the film. It made no sense. Violence in films also needs to merited too, whether it is to shock or advance the story. This film is nothing but a long montage of characters getting hurt and cursing. It didn't take long for me to realize that I had enough. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review matthew b Another one bites the dust. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Wonderful acting by Joseph Fiennes. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Dame M Pay no attention to the negative reviews. This is not a a paint by numbers Hollywood action movie where every little detail is spelled out for the audience. This is an expertly shot, smartly edited eastern western, with great action set pieces, bloody violence and a story that spans a century. A movie that Quentin Tarantino can only dream of making!
