Earthquake Bird is definitely a cut above Netflix's usual fare. On a surface level the film doesn't have that weird plastic sheen Netflix releases always seem to be cheapened by.

An odd watch. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. The credits rolled and I said to myself aloud, "Well what was the point of that?" Never a good sign when rating a movie. Too many questions and WAY too few answers.

Wo die Erde bebt (Earthquake Bird) ist ein Mysteryfilm von Wash Westmoreland. Der Film basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Roman von Susanna Jones… Während sie als Übersetzerin in Japan arbeitet, verliebt sich eine Frau in einen Fotografen… Eine ungewöhnlich langsame, aber fesselnde Geschichte, die uns Einblick in die japanische Kultur gewährt. Eine perfekt artikulierte Charakterstudie über eine toxische Dreiecksbeziehung… Ein Psychodrama mit einer guten Schauspielerischen Leistung, das für mich aber sehr langatmig inszeniert ist…
