Robert Daniels RogerEbert.com “Ebony and Ivory” is one of the dumbest movies I’ve ever seen. Rated: 3/4 Aug 8, 2025 Full Review Calum Marsh New York Times Grating, juvenile and repetitive, this eccentric stoner farce written and directed by Jim Hosking feels at times more like an experiment in social conditioning than a comedy... Aug 7, 2025 Full Review Nick Schager The Daily Beast Surrealist absurdity of the highest (or is that lowest?) order, a comedy that’s so unabashedly out there that it practically dares audiences to reject it. Aug 7, 2025 Full Review Dave Canfield ScreenAnarchy Fun and playful and experimental. ... My advice is to see this in a packed theater or with a large group of friends. If you do see it at home, make sure you have lots of off-brand soda and cocoa on hand. You may even need a bit of the ole doobie-woobie. Aug 14, 2025 Full Review Warren Cantrell The Playlist Artistically irredeemable and impossible to recommend on any basis whatsoever, about the only thing “Ebony & Ivory” succeeds at is matching the artistic value of the eponymous song: a dubious distinction if ever there was one. Rated: F Aug 11, 2025 Full Review Samantha McLaren MovieJawn Ebony & Ivory wastes your time, knows it's wasting your time, knows that you know it’s wasting your time, and loves that you know. Make no mistake: it has extremely niche appeal. But having watched this film, I think I can safely say I’m in that niche. Aug 9, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Todd Greasy Strangler A++, Tropical Cop Tales A++, Beverly Lufftlynn D-. Ebony and Ivory lives somewhere in between the highs and lows. It’s a bit masterbatory which I would think I’d love from Hoskins orevious genius, but this film is too repetitive, slow and tries your patience in every scene. I appreciate the film. Glad I saw it. Very cool to see a film with 2 actors in one location. Looks and sounds fantastic! But there’s not enough here. No plot, not a lot of anything. Will keep seeing Hoskins films. Fan for life. Would love to collab with him. This film is a bit more of a long short then a full concept feature.
