Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Ignore the nondescript title; writer-director Jeff Houkal's backwoods horror film "Edge of Isolation" has personality and just enough splatter to satisfy gore-hounds. Apr 19, 2018 Full Review Lorry Kikta Film Threat Insofar as low-budget horror goes, The Edge of Isolation is successful at exploring its subject matter without becoming to cheesy or hackneyed. Audience Member So so ridiculous and bad. Looks like was filmed on an iPhone ,do not recommend Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Creep & suspenseful right from the opening shot! When it comes to indie horror, this is what you need, as you don't have the budget for the bigger effects / set pieces etc. And Edge of Isolation manages to maintain this suspense and creepy feeling the whole way through, resulting in a satisfying film experience. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm a sucker for thriller stories that deal with isolation. It's fun to up the stakes by putting people out of their element. This was a fun ride with indie flare. The kind of flick that I love to come, sit on the couch with a pizza, and just zone out with. Nice cinematography and a lot of passion help this one to stand out. Give it a go. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Jeff Houkal directs Edge of Isolation, a really well-conceived lost in nature play. The film's premise and its themes evoke other isolation-driven film stalwarts: Deliverance comes to mind more than once, and the underrated The Village is present as well in this film's DNA. Ultimately, this is great indie filmmaking. It succeeds in its intent to be highly unsettling and consistently creepy, and despite taking place out in the proverbial middle of nowhere, Houkal manages an impressive air of claustrophobia throughout. An impressive combination of story, casting, and execution. Recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is by far the worst thing I have ever witnessed in my entire life. The producers of this movie have the gall to even call it a horror movie this shit made masturbating disgusting and should be ashame for doing so. I wish nothing but misfortune for the director of the film and lord help us he doesnt ever have kids cuz they will probably end up retarded like he was for making this shitty ass dumbfuck of a movie. i hope everyone had a good read while i shit talked your movie tried to make it at least funny and offensive at the same time. now lets talk about the autistic kids that review this movie. wtf is wrong with you guys this shit is actually dumb why 75% it doesnt even deserve to be reviewed no one shouldve watched this shit. like damn did your parents drop you when you were little kids or something cuz this shit is actually bad and you guys need to realize this now. ok now about the families that let these fucks make the movie why didnt you stop them like why you know what his wife is probably his cousin or something i hope you guys dont get fucked up kids. ok im done actually no i am not done why did momo see this movie he is retarded and should kill himself for witnessing this apalling movie i curse this website for its shitty users. ok now im done right now i think maybe probably possibly adios. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A great indie film with plenty of uncomfortable and disturbing moments. Edge may not be a trailblazer in it's category but, it is gory and insidious enough to warrant any movie buff's time! Absolutely loved Monte Markham's performance!
