Ralph R Eenie Meanie (2025) feels uneven, almost like it cannot decide what kind of movie it wants to be. The pacing hurts it, especially between the first and second act where it drags too much and starts to get annoying. Throwing phones in water is such a tired cliché that feels out of place in a 2025 release. On top of that, almost every character is angry with each other the entire time, with no real break until the very last minute of the movie. Logic also takes a back seat since it often feels like there are no police around in a film set in the U.S. There are still some good touches. Like having Andy Garcia leading a casino heist. The cinematography is confusing but not bad, just hard to pin down. The car chase is easily the highlight, even if it ends too quickly. What really holds things together is Samara Weaving’s performance. She gives the role energy and grit, even if her constant “what the fuck”s could fuel a drinking game. In the end the movie has its moments, but weak pacing and writing make it hard to fully enjoy. I’m recommending that it’s worth a watch to friends and family. The lead romantic couple are good actors and play off each other well. I felt genuinely invested in their fictitious story. I would say that it started to get a little too Wild Things esque at the end. But then I thought about it, and it made some sense for the characters’ perspective.
