      Critics Consensus

Elvis & Nixon may not do much to expand on its absurdly iconic photographic source material, but it's rarely less than engaging thanks to its talented starring duo.

Gaming U Was so freaking boring Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/24 Full Review Ted B 3.5 stars; While there was a lot left to be desired, as far as physical likeness of Nixon and Elvis, much work was done on mimicking the mannerisms and voices of the characters. A good job by Kevin Spacey and. Michael Shannon. I'm not sure how much of that story is true. But it sure could be, given the personalities that were portrayed so on target. It was a comedy, but not just in the classical sense. I found myself laughing out loud, only because of the personalities involved.. Well done. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A short comedic look at at one of the most interesting meetings between Elvis and Richard Nixon. Not too much is know about the meeting but it generated one of the most requested photos from the National Archives of the two, unlikely, men together. Spacey does a good caricature of Nixon. Michael Shannon is a great actor but not a great Elvis. Evan Peters and Colin Hanks are good in supporting roles. The look at the 1970's is ok but not authentic as I would like. The tenor of the film is ok and it is watchable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Mike J Sonic I think it's so cool to Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/29/22 Full Review Audience Member I found it rather interesting, that's about it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Justin R It's a fun, quirky film that should be taken for what it is. The premise is simple, its based on the iconic 1970 photo and how that came to be. It's short, with moments of light humor and all-around fairly entertaining. My only criticism is Shannon doesn't look much like Elvis and I had a hard time seeing past that. However, as an Elvis fan I enjoyed it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/21 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Donald Clarke Irish Times One ends up wishing for more Nixon and less Elvis, which is not something many people said at the time. Rated: 3/5 Jun 28, 2016 Full Review Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard Elvis and Nixon are fascinating - if only we were allowed to spend more time with them. Rated: 3/5 Jun 26, 2016 Full Review Mark Kermode Observer (UK) It's entertaining fluff and, frankly, That's All Right. Rated: 3/5 Jun 26, 2016 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson There is a better-than-good chance that not a lick of "Elvis & Nixon" is true, but that doesn't ruin the fun of examining a documented moment of star-crossed brevity. Rated: 4/5 Aug 14, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Elvis & Nixon doesn't have the guts to embrace the full degree of potential silliness between these two men and their personas. Rated: 2/4 Apr 15, 2022 Full Review Jason Adams The Film Experience A genial little thing, a bejeweled trifle, that leaves these two men's storm-clouds mostly off-screen at the horizon Rated: C Jul 6, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
