Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com It takes the babysitter-in-peril genre and spins it on its head with delicious ferocity, making it a horror opus I'd be curious to revisit as soon as the opportunity might arise. Rated: 3/4 Aug 15, 2016 Full Review R. Emmet Sweeney Film Comment Magazine Michael Thelin's perversely effective debut feature is a little thriller that pokes and prods at the fears of young parents...Thelin builds these traumas slowly, and exploits the natural and playful performances of the kids for maximum queasiness. Mar 17, 2016 Full Review Glenn Kenny RogerEbert.com The result is reasonably satisfying, but the direction shifts from tensile to muddy in the run-up to the finale. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 4, 2016 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts The payoff is great in these types of films it's not just like a home invasion film where you don't know what's going on. Rated: 8/10 May 6, 2021 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed ... an entertaining, creepy film that brings the suspense and tension with good performances all around ... Tyler B Emilie is well made. The plot is intriguing and well crafted. It gets a bit choppy in the end but it's still enjoyable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/28/24 Full Review Audience Member I can only assume low budget film makers are now paying for reviews. This is utterly dreadful. Slow, poorly paced, no real point, hole filled plot and absolutely no direction. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/26/24 Full Review Justin T I'll say that this is a psychological thriller and not a horror and that is fine, just need to know. I enjoyed it and thought it was good but I won't be watching it again except maybe in 20 years when I've forgotten that I've even seen this one. Production quality is excellent, film looks drab but it matches the tone. It is very well paced and always interesting. The acting is excellent and the characters are engaging. It's well written and directed. It reminded me of Requiem for a Dream (2000) but less personally destructive and a bit of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1992) but actually probably better. The only thing I really hated was the ending. There is no conclusion, very disappointing. A bit like The Strangers (2008) I suppose. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review Conor F A very average watch. Some disturbing scenes, nothing too scary. More claustrophobic than scary. Ending seemed a bit rushed but a good premise. 3/5 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/31/23 Full Review Dave C This has killer potential that is never realised, and it's such a shame, as the protagonist babysitter is brilliant, and the premise is good enough. It really shouldn't have held back so much, and it would have delivered so much more as a result! Instead, it's decidedly mediocre, at best. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/28/23 Full Review stevie S The main ‘bad girl' wasn't bad enough for me. I think though, if she acted any more, she would become too much of a pantomime. With that in mind, it couldn't have been written that well, as the characters did all they should have, given the dialogue. Was worth a watch…just missing something.
