For the most part, ‘Emergency’ is more a scattershot caricature of time and place and people, riddled with tacky computer graphics... Go to Full Review

It's a fallacy that Kangana Ranaut is a good actor. In her Indira Gandhi biopic Emergency, she proves that she's a poor director as well. Go to Full Review

Emergency’s scramble to cram as much as possible into one film lets it down. It’s watchable if you want to see good acting. Go to Full Review

Bhanu Pratap Singh B Sep 6 I couldn't understand why Rotten Tomatoes rated this movie so low. This movie is so good. Great acting, music, and cinematography, and very near to historical events. See more Silver S Aug 11 I’ll admit it — I wasn’t a Kangana Ranaut fan before watching Emergency ( just saw it on Netflix) But this film completely changed my mind. It’s a well-made, absorbing political drama that pulls you right into one of India’s most controversial chapters. The production design, pacing, and period authenticity are spot-on, keeping the story grounded while still feeling cinematic. The real game-changer, though, is Kangana’s performance as Indira Gandhi. Phenomenal doesn’t even begin to cover it. She captures the authority, composure, and quiet ruthlessness of the character with remarkable precision — from her expressions to her body language. It’s not just a portrayal; it’s a transformation. I walked in skeptical and walked out a fan. Emergency is proof that when Kangana commits to a role, she delivers something unforgettable.
