More about the personal impact of exploration than about the exploration itself. Look past the occasionally cheesy special effects and even cheesier slow-motion shot (you'll know it when you see it), and you'll find an interesting sci-fi film about people. I like a lot of the stuff with the old timers talking about how boring and routine space travel has become. But overall, the film just wanders, hopping between not very interesting characters as they leisurely uncover the ultimately not all that impressive story. Worth seeing if you're really curious about East German/Soviet science fiction. But nothing to rush right out and find.
