Legalize Everything isn't the complete success the best of Eric Andre's work is, but as a first look at what he can do to this format, it's a breath-taking experiment, and more often than not, painfully hilarious.

Stand up from New Orleans, pre-pandemic. From the opening moments you can see the seeds from the creation of his raucous film, Bad Trip. A lot of sex and drug humor. In 2020 to do a stand up and NOT talk politics is, in itself, refreshing. Andre is a fun and self effacing and very smart.

Disappointed. I think his show and sketches are hilarious but this special just feels lazy and forced. Even the audience laughter seems to be a mix of pity and confusion. This special is not standup, it's just a drugged up guy sputtering out sentence fragments on no discernible order.

As a huge fan of The Eric Andre show, I was extremely excited for this special. Sadly, it completely failed to deliver. His set seemed to feed off of his over the top energy and "shock" value rather than anything of substance. Long, dragging segments felt more like conversations with those kids in high school who'd brag about all the drugs they'd done at a party last weekend. There seemed to be no attempt at putting together or setting up jokes for the majority of the special, just a tedious recounting of underwhelmingly dull drug-fueled antics. If screaming the word "Meth!" apropos of nothing seems like a punch line, you may enjoy it, but even for its shock value, all of this has been done to death since the 60s... and by far more skilled artists. Hard and disappointing pass.
