Dan Sallitt Senses of Cinema And yet Errance is ultimately a film about true love - a love helpless in the face of human weakness and doomed from shot one, but nonetheless enduring and inevitably moving. Oct 17, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Claudio C Errance (2003) You Can Fix a Cracked Vase, But the Cracks Will Remain Visible (12,027 – 30 Oct 2025– by Claudio Carvalho) In 1968, Lou (Laetitia Casta) has a difficult delivery ended with a C-section and almost dying. Meanwhile, her husband, Jacques (Benoît Magimel) is completely drunken and loses the birth. He promises to head to the South of France to restart their lives with the baby. In 1972, Jacques works in a small real estate and construction company but is always drunken and gambling. When Lou and their son César (Mattéo Tardito) leave him and returns to her parents’ home, Jacques promises to intern himself in a rehabilitation hospital to be detoxicated. In 1975, Jacques convinces Lou that he does not drink anymore, and she and César meet him in a big French city. But soon she realizes that, as her father had said, you can fix a cracked vase, but the cracks will remain visible. “Errance” (2003) is a French low-budget movie with a promising storyline, showing moments of the life of a dysfunctional couple. The mesmerizing eyes of actress and model Laetitia Casta and the name of Benoît Magimel in the credits attract any viewer fan of French movies. Unfortunately, the screenplay is a mess, with no development of the characters. The viewer needs to guess what has happened before the situation in the story. My vote is four. (I had suggested Flixster adding the info of this film back on February 6 & they finally did it yesterday. What a service!) Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
