The jungle scenes, shot in Queensland, are well staged and genuinely suspenseful and McConville's performance is impressive. The film was clearly made on a modest budget, and, taking that into account, it is pretty impressive.

It's not the script which provides the film's punch. That comes from Josh McConville's embodiment of an Australian army officer who has returned from a mission to Myanmar suffering post-traumatic stress syndrome.

You can't argue with the film's good intentions [but] good intentions do not automatically make a good movie. Scatty direction, implausible action scenes and thin production values keep it from hitting the marks it is so obviously aiming for.

The cast (particularly McConville) make a heroic effort to enliven implausible subplots and a dreadful and plodding script. Unfortunately, this movie was interesting solely for that Herculean, but ultimately, doomed effort.

Maybe it's because I'm Australian, but the cast was too familiar to me having seen most of these actors in many other roles. It was an okay effort, but I think that a better plot could (and probably will) centre around Australian forces role in Afghanistan. Around a pretty decent military drama.

The movie provides some good insight into PTSD for returned soldiers. The Actor playing the main character is very believable. Good scenery, good child actors. Great little Aussie effort on a fictional drama. Some of the more gruesome scenes are not for the faint hearted.
