Emily B The cast (particularly McConville) make a heroic effort to enliven implausible subplots and a dreadful and plodding script. Unfortunately, this movie was interesting solely for that Herculean, but ultimately, doomed effort. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review Ian R Maybe it's because I'm Australian, but the cast was too familiar to me having seen most of these actors in many other roles. It was an okay effort, but I think that a better plot could (and probably will) centre around Australian forces role in Afghanistan. Around a pretty decent military drama. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A welcoming change to typical Action war films with great performances, cool battle scenes and plenty of intrigue. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolute garbage, poor story and acting was atrocious! Anyone that says this was ok has no idea. If there were military advisors on this film they should be ashamed of themselves. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazing. So powerful and real. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Melissa M The movie provides some good insight into PTSD for returned soldiers. The Actor playing the main character is very believable. Good scenery, good child actors. Great little Aussie effort on a fictional drama. Some of the more gruesome scenes are not for the faint hearted. David Stratton The Australian The jungle scenes, shot in Queensland, are well staged and genuinely suspenseful and McConville's performance is impressive. The film was clearly made on a modest budget, and, taking that into account, it is pretty impressive. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 6, 2020 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It's not the script which provides the film's punch. That comes from Josh McConville's embodiment of an Australian army officer who has returned from a mission to Myanmar suffering post-traumatic stress syndrome. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 4, 2020 Full Review Luke Buckmaster Guardian A credible and interesting film with compelling ideas. Rated: 3/5 Apr 15, 2019 Full Review Jim Schembri 3AW You can't argue with the film's good intentions [but] good intentions do not automatically make a good movie. Scatty direction, implausible action scenes and thin production values keep it from hitting the marks it is so obviously aiming for. Rated: 1.5/5 Mar 6, 2020 Full Review Erin Free FILMINK (Australia) ...Escape And Evasion is a cinematic tour of duty worth taking. Rated: 16/20 Feb 25, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
