Teddy B A piece of work that feels so unimpressive yet predictable that you have to resort to nitpicking just to stimulate yourself. So - why does 'Romeo & Juliet' have so many more pages than it's supposed to, how does a girl fall the height of a courthouse and survive (I do not care that there is a trampoline outside), and why does this film want to cram 'The Pagemaster' and 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' together anyways? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/11/24 Full Review Tyler M Meh acting and meh plot and crappy ending, But like this amount of stars say; Meh it passed the time Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/07/23 Full Review StephenPaul C LOL, the funniest 01 hours: and 09 minutes ever!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/22/23 Full Review Lucas F Excellent movie ngl, I saw it for the first time on a Spanish TV channel, and it just fell so magical to see, superb story (However I never read the book but in my opinion almost perfect) 9/10 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Dave H Lots of comic-book-level dialog, with characters stating the obvious or trying for clever quips that are actually pretty lame. Not one of the characters felt remotely real. The premise makes no sense. The story had quite a few ideas that might have worked except the writers seemed to be terrified of actually committing to any of them, resulting in a stew of half-baked plot threads. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/28/22 Full Review Snaddi S Personally, I am obsessed with the books that this was adapted from. I love the way the books had such a smooth rhythm and puzzles to solve. However...this is not the book. This is an adapted version, and it's not good. I will say they chose a variety of kids for the casting, so there's a plus. But the characters aren't the way they were written, and the story is very flimsy in comparison to the books. If you love books, the only reason to watch this is to see how they designed the library. It's a nice design, I won't lie. Not what my imagination created, but not bad. The idea of "portals" is kinda cool, but it's not what the original was. The book's whole point was to use technology to make something magical, this just feels like a Christmas movie's technological magic. Like it's unexplainable but acceptable. Honestly, I don't think the children's actors were bad, they just had really cringey and bad writing to follow. Seriously, whoever was the writer for this...this is not the point of the books! Please do the book's story and characters, they were so much more interesting. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/05/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
