Laurie S Here's yet another case of a director twisting the truth to suit the script. It wasn't Callum's fault about the crash, it was the other driver who shouldn't have overtaken and caused the crash plus the girl was goading him to go faster. I do wish these prat directors wouldn't do this. Basically the film is about a family of sick f***s. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Logan D Very nice find. Very much pschological horror with some believable performances by the cast. Repellant and appealing at the same time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/05/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is all kinds of messed up. The fact that the boyfriend left his girlfriend in that house with those strangers is messed up. They must have offered him some a lot of money so that they could keep her there. The treatment from the strangers was horrid. The part when that guy raped that lady and got her pregnant was f'ed up. She found out that her mom killed herself. The whole movie was just bizarre. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member The first half of this movie had good pacing and suspense. The second half of this movie falls apart when it expects you to come to conclusions no reasonable person should be expected to come to. It waited way too long to explain any relevant plot points, leaving viewers annoyed and completely confused. Once you finally understand the backstory, you realize it's a weak explanation for the events taking place and wasn't worth waiting for. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Powerful suspense with lots of surprises! Well acted with extremely strange family and the story is revealed slowly and carefully. The horror is the amnesia and the brutality! A very worthwhile experience! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/29/21 Full Review Audience Member The film draws you in from the very beginning. I knew within the first 9 minutes that this was going to be good. Estranged tackles a very dark topic. It kept you guessing for a while, and once you knew what was going on you continue to guess what will happen next; what is the plan? Will it work? With scenes of despicable abuse that is sadly something many people have to live with, everyone involved in this film made those scenes feel so real. Parts of this film may strike a nerve for certain viewers, so the viewer should be prepared to feel a number of ways when watching this. The acting was good, the writing was good, the cinematography was good, and I loved the music. The music doesn't feel out of place like it can in other movies. I would recommend this movie for sure. If I was to critique one part of the film, I would say that I wished there was more closure at the end. The ending is still good, don't get me wrong. But I think it would've been interesting to see the aftermath of all that happened. That being said, it isn't 100% necessary and will probably feel like that for a lot of people. The ending is adequate, but I also feel that adding an extra 20 minutes or so to the end would've wrapped it up nicely also. So overall, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film. Despite having never been in the same situation as the main character, I could still empathise with her. I thought the depictions of pain and suffering were good. If you have a spare hour and a half and are wondering what to watch, you won't be disappointed with this. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Hope Madden Screen Relish Estranged offers an appealing blend of familiar and novel, repellent and elegant - forever playing with the idea that there is something foul and festering beneath the surface of this lovely home. Rated: 3/5 Feb 5, 2019 Full Review Kat Hughes THN Estranged is particularly brilliant at wringing tension and casting doubts in the viewer's mind, making it a great cerebral and thrilling horror. Rated: 3/5 Feb 5, 2019 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Estrangement is a portrait of a broken society told in microcosmic form, but it is at its most potent in exploring very ordinary horrors. Rated: 4/5 Feb 4, 2019 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews A well-delivered dark thriller helmed by first-timer Adam Levins. Rated: B- Mar 9, 2016 Full Review Dustin Putman TheFrightFile.com The transfixing directorial debut of Adam Levins, "Estranged" creates an encroaching sense of imbalance and peril very early on, and doesn't let up until the end credits. Rated: 3/4 Feb 16, 2016 Full Review Anton Bitel Projected Figures a family home is also a prison of perverse history, aspirational envy and twisted revenge. Estranged shows England's class structure to be a closed system, its bricks and mortar staying essentially fixed no matter how deep the genetic pool may run. Nov 6, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews
