Tom M Dissappointing considering cast of Niven, Young, Burke and Crawford. Young is very good but Niven is mostly unpleasant for much of the movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/10/20 Full Review Audience Member Mediocre film for both Loretta Young and David Niven to be starring in. This story is about the marriage between a woman and a magician that goes wrong after she starts believing his career is causing them unhappiness. The film takes almost inconceivable plot turns and only find redemption in the talent of its cast. To make matters worse, it is poorly photographed and directed. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member delightful rom-com from that magical year, 1939. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm not a watcher of many Niven films (not my generation of course) but this was an interesting film as he plays an escape artist and magician. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member This was one of my very favorite movies when I was a kid. Let's just say... I kind of wish I hadn't watched it again. It's not a bad movie at all. It's just not great, and rewatching it at 23 really ruined the magic I felt watching it at 12. The earlier scenes are good, when Niven and Young are married and doing their magic act together. But once they split and it becomes a remarriage comedy, it majorly falters, especially when held up against brilliant remarriage comedies like Hitchcock's Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Sturges' The Lady Eve. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member A wonderful romantic comedy, blessed with fantastic chemistry between its two leads, David Niven and Loretta Young.
