Thirteen-year-old Ethan is supposed to be preparing for his bar mitzvah -- but despite his Jewish family, Ethan is convinced his spiritual calling is with the Catholic church, where he secretly finds solace under the guidance of Father Diaz (Carlos Ponce). Through the wisdom of an unconventional rabbi (Rachelle Lefevre), the love of his complicated father (Joshua Malina), and his first romance with a cowboy-boot-wearing girl who can put him in a headlock, Ethan must confront his lies and grief to discover that faith isn't about choosing sides--it's about honoring all the messy, beautiful pieces of who we are.

jesse v Apr 28 The characters and settings are good, but the pacing of time is very odd and some scenes have noticeable editing/camera shortcuts. A tremendous amount of music used here to fill in the mood of scenes unfortunately. The theme of love from all aspects clashes with the religious theme here and not one scene can be thoroughly serious without crossing boundaries in a comedic way. 15 minutes of the film is a whole bunch of emotional acceptance for some reason. Ground that appeared to have been covered before in other quirky coming of age stories but once he meets his first girlfriend and we really get to know Eric - the film does take off. Very sweet coming of age film with a lovely message. As one woman said when I walked out - a two tissue film. Lots of very funny moments and lots of heart. Well worth the price of admission. It’s a go-see film. See more Mona M Mar 22 Charming, feel good movie that is entertaining and meaningful at the same time. A rarity in movies these days. See more Diana D Mar 22 The movie was super cute reminds me of are you there God it’s me Margaret. But different. Not that many people in the theater they did such a hype on. Facebook and Instagram, which is how I found it. Also, the actors and directors didn’t show for the after discussion See more susana Mar 21 Incredible movie ! I cried , i laughed , i reminisced !
