There are a few spectacular sequences worth watching, but with neither cause nor effect there is very little to recommend here. Do note that opinions are divided on this. So if you are an EVA fan, do check this one out for yourself. Go to Full Review

David C @DavidsReviews Dec 27 Only good thing that came out of this movie is the Shinji confused scene and black Rei See more Suspicious @Kiwiboo Dec 5 This movie by itself is not incredible. The beginning felt very boring when watching it for the first time, and it still is. The rest of the film, storywise is not *amazing* either. The main character; Shinji Ikari, feels like a punching bag for the writers throughout some of the film. Despite this, there is one aspect of this film that shines through every time I watch it. If you've watched the original anime, read the manga, engaged with the other things this franchise has put out, you'll probably agree this character and his interactions with Shinji typically always feel like a highlight: I'm talking about Kaworu Nagisa. The way Kaworu and Shinji interact in this film make it a personal favourite of mine. Their relationship with one another has always been incredibly interesting to watch for me, but this film's exploration of it is one of my favourites. If you like both characters and want to see them interact, this movie is amazing for you. It has some other merits, too. See more Jackson M @Nshvlleindie May 11 How did this mess become such a hit????? Finally after a few movies we get a SLIGHT origin story for the whole series in general, but it’s too vague and too little too late. There is so much violence and crazy cutting that the last 50% of the movie is just muddy craziness, while the first 50% has a ton of angst that isn’t explained nearly enough. See more dogo f Apr 6 I can see why people hate this, but I liked it! It’s very harsh and way more depressing. But the visuals and fight scenes were stunning.
