dustin d Time of Eve explores human-android relations outside the purview of an action/suspense film like Blade Runner or Ex Machina. It instead revolves around more personal dynamics. It was an interesting approach to the concept, even if the ideas weren't new. I don't know if a sequel came of this, but it sort of trails off at the end... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Really captivating slow burn sci-fi, beautifully realised in simplicity and a movie that makes you think. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Otra buena idea terriblemente desarrollada. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Well conceived and well executed, with sympathetic characters, an intriguing premise, and some good development of the ideas. But it's a series of vignettes, not a complete story: The main tension lines are developed, but not resolved. Premise is that robot servants in houses are fairly common, and recent ones are now androids, i.e., nearly indistinguishable from humans, save that they must obey orders--and they have a visible holographic android-marker above their heads. They are treated without much care by most humans. In one semi-secret cafe ("Time of Eve") , humans and robots are treated as social equals--and androids' holographic markers are suppressed, so no one knows who are the humans and who the androids. Two high school boys come to visit the cafe and work out their issues with what is the proper way to treat androids. Some of their problems are resolved with some excellent thought-provoking exposition and emotional bruising and healing; but important ones are left hanging, as the series continues.
