Despite the poor reviews the film remains one of the greats. Its atmosphere is unforgettable and its concept is haunting. Brilliant cast and the special effects were on point for its time. Absolute cult classic, space horror at its finest. And that last scene.

I had no idea this was so severely panned by critics, and I have no idea why it should be so. I thought perhaps I remembered it fondly simply because I'd seen it as a teen, but I watched it again as an adult and felt the horror just as fresh. Some of it might qualify as camp, but I never felt it was truly silly or hamming it up. I kind of feel like watching it again as I write this.
