Married dancing partners Pamela (Marge Champion) and Chuck Hubbard (Gower Champion) are a smash on the opening night of Alec Tackabury's (Dennis O'Keefe) new show -- only to learn afterward that Pam is pregnant. She is replaced by understudy Sybil Meriden (Monica Lewis), who then becomes Chuck's full-time partner. Although happy to have their daughter, little Pamela, Pam soon begins to miss show business and, as the years go by, starts to wonder about Chuck and Sybil's relationship.

Audience Member After their success in SHOW BOAT, MGM decided to give Marge & Gower Champion a starring vehicle of their own; although the plot is wooden, there are several good production numbers including "Like Monday Follows Sunday" and "Seventeen Thousand Telephone Poles," sung by Monica Lewis.
