Audience Member A better title would be "The Floating Inferno" or "The Boring Inferno". Rated 1.5/5 Stars •  Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Gallant effort by sailors, a local town and some wedding celebrants in fending off an out-of-control fire aboard a liner loaded with explosive fertilizer. Some silly dialogue aside (often meaningless chatter in the face of dire circumstances), the fire scenes are pretty well done. Only hurts itself, however, with its title linking itself with the previous years' The Poseidon Adventure. Citizens come together to try to prevent the ship from exploding and save potentially hundreds of lives of nearby inhabitants. Looked dubious during the opening credits but this turns into a pretty good story. Not one to be lumped in with the Irwin Allen disaster films of the same period. Rated 4/5 Stars •  Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member This Movie is from the Grindhouse Experience 20 Film Collection Volume 1, Not sure if this collection is still on the market as I don't see it on Amazon. This film is based on true events that happen in the 1970 near Galati, Romania. The film also was nominated for the Golden Award at the 1973 Moscow International Film Festival . About a ship that is carrying ammonia nitrate, Fuel, and Oxygen Tanks which could result in an explosion much like the Texas City 1942 explosion where many could be killed. This is same material used in the Oklahoma Bombing. But a group of local people, firefighters, harbor police, and military do what they can to put the fire out. Remember it's a 1973 Romania Film, considering all of that, the action and the story line is enough to award this film 4 stars.
