Audience Member I was there for the showing at Sundance. It sucked, and Martha Plimpton sucked worse. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member A man comes out from jail and is looking for change. Actually, change has already happened as he has found God. He get's a job and a girl and everything is just great. We also follow a 14 year old buy. He seem lonely and pretty careless. He likes to drive a car around at night, otherwise he's not up for much. These two stories are connected. We know it, but not how. The presentation is swell as shifts of both time and stories works out really good. The acting is really good too. The three most important actors are all delivering and it's cool to see Richard Jenkins in a smaller part here - the most known actor from the film these days. So, great acting, lovely story, smart presentation and a short playtime makes this a great drama, with some tensity. 7.5 out of 10 jawbreakers. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie disturbed me but it also had such beautiful performances in it by entire cast. I recommend this to anyone. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member (*** 1/2): Intriguing and well-acted. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A strangely haunting movie. The story is fairly straight-forward, but the way the director presents it, in non-linear fashion and told mostly through flashbacks, is pure genius. It creates a menacing, perhaps even "southern gothic" atmosphere. The director's commentary is excellent, highly recommended if you're a movie buff. Owen Gleiberman Entertainment Weekly Anderson creates what may be the most vividly scary and authentic portrait of a sociopathic ex-con since Dustin Hoffman in Straight Time. Rated: A- Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Joe Leydon Variety Set against the vivid backdrop of an Oklahoma oil town in the terminal stages of economic devastation, "Eye of God" is deliberately paced but almost entirely free of nonessential material. Mar 26, 2009 Full Review Marjorie Baumgarten Austin Chronicle Despite the fact that the film's whole never quite equals its parts, Eye of God provides a fascinating ride and evocative glimpses of ordinary people in the throes of crisis. Rated: 3/5 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review David Sterritt Christian Science Monitor The story doesn't quite add up to a well-told drama, but there's rock-solid acting by Martha Plimpton, Kevin Anderson, Hal Holbrook as the local sheriff, and Nick Stahl. Rated: 2/4 Mar 28, 2019 Full Review Cole Smithey ColeSmithey.com ...an overly complex narrative puzzle placed amid an atmospheric setting with distracting voice-over narration by Holbrook's town sheriff as he reflects on a tragedy that makes mute a local orphan...
