In FACES OF DEATH, the exploration of the original film's infamous "is it real or not?" conceit continues as a woman (Ferreira) working as a content moderator for a major video platform discovers what appears to be re-enactments of murders from the original film. In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction, or unfolding in real time.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

A fiercely transgressive, self-aware reimagining that occasionally gives way to conventional genre exploitation, Faces of Death interrogates the morbid spectacle of violence with striking brutality and intelligence.

Goldhaber, whose previous film was the highly charged 2023 eco-minded docu-heist thriller How to Blow Up a Pipeline, has managed again to use the entertainment-first hallmarks of genre filmmaking to tap into the nervous energy of the moment. Go to Full Review

While Goldhaber's call back to the cult classic franchise could never dream to match the infamy of its inspiration in the social media age, it's a serviceable serial killer thriller elevated by a compelling lead performance. Go to Full Review

Samuel 12h One of the best movies I’ve seen in a while! See more Michael G. 1d Not what I expected, but it was good. See more Q A J 1d Originally just went for Charolette (the accent btw 🤩, she’s a ⭐️), was pleasantly delighted to discover another Shudder classic. Ryan, what a lad 😢. Slightly disappointing to follow a protagonist the duration of the film that initially just didn’t want it enough (at first), yet ultimately satisfying. See more Brady Johnson 2d Alittle bit slow at first. But the 3rd act saved it for me. Loved the killer performance. Outstanding. I expected it to be more gory/violent from the trailer. Overall I came out enjoying the film! See more jracula 2d the pacing was odd, it felt very rushed at times but overall not a bad watch. i wish they had leaned either fully into the campiness or kept it serious. dacre gave a skarsgardian performance, he has great range and of course the prettiest eyelashes i have ever seen. charli did an accent, really hoped she'd have her scream queen moment.. See more Michael E 2d Not what I expected. Actually pretty good. Nice commentary on the desensitization of society through social media. See more Read all reviews
