Sabrina F The Faculty is a highly derivative but fun late 90's horror film. It is very much in the vein of Scream, another Kevin Williamson project, in that you have plenty of teen angst, meta references, sarcasm, and a fairly fast pace. You also get a lot of archetypal teen characters that you never really care about, but that is true of many horror films, honestly. The Thing, Alien, and any adaptation of The Invasion of the Body Snatchers is better than The Faculty, but if you are feeling nostalgic for a 90's teen horror film, this is not a bad one to watch. Just be aware that some of the special effects are a product of their time, so be prepared for some wonky CGI. It added to the film's "time capsule" charm for me, but it might be too clunky for others. Also, the soundtrack is so good in that oh so 90's way. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Logan T It may stretch its credibility with the infected towards the end but The Faculty wears its cliches on its sleeve and along with the cast it's a lot of fun Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review Jules N Un très bon film d'extraterrestre qui possède des réels scènes de tension Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/24 Full Review Gary T Bad writing, OK acting. Wouldn't watch it again. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/13/24 Full Review Chris F A true classic of its era and genre. The Faculty is fun and I am always down for a rewatch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review G C A much better film than I expected and it's a bit of a cult classic. It's just a fun sci-fi movie with actors before they hit it big. Owen Gleiberman Entertainment Weekly Some of this is fun in a low-grade Hellraiser sort of way, but it reduces the script’s mildest ambitions to hamburger. In The Faculty, it’s Kevin Williamson’s talent that turns into a pod of itself. Rated: C+ Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Nigel Floyd Time Out This smart, involving sci-fi picture, set in an Ohio high school, pays homage to several genre faves, notably Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Thing. Jan 26, 2006 Full Review Globe and Mail Rated: 2/4 Apr 25, 2003 Full Review Josh Goller Spectrum Culture In nearly every aspect, The Faculty acts as collage. Admittedly, there are virtually no new ideas here, but rather homages to forebears, direct references to contemporary influences and modernization of classic sci-fi tropes. Jan 11, 2024 Full Review Kristy Strouse Wonderfully Weird and Horrifying The Faculty is an engaging story that breezes by with an energetic fervor that doesn’t slack on bringing the horror when it needs to. Nov 14, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand ... a fun loving, self-aware cleverness to both the science-fiction/horror conventions and the teen movie clichés.
