Two solitary figures find their paths cross when a young woman arrives to aid a sickly old woman. After a hostile first encounter and despite misgivings from both, the two slowly open up to one another and begin to form an unexpected bond, but their affinity is short lived. Events culminate as buried memories resurface and unforgiving words are spoken. The old woman then struggles to accept the absence of the young woman and is haunted by her memory. The pair meet one final time as truths emerge in a shocking revelation proving that they are much more alike than they ever thought.

I kind of stumbled on this film and thought I'd check it out. Safe to say not what I expected at all. It's almost impossible to tell but fading petals is a no-budget film which makes it all the more impressive. This is the director's first film and he nails it, especially the script and the dialogue. The acting is insanely good, the soundtrack is haunting and the cinematography is at times beautiful. The reveal is really interesting (although arguably there are two or maybe more interpretations possible) but I think it's less about that and is really a film that looks at loss and regret by focusing on very complicated and troubled characters. The film has stuck with me and I still have questions. I might watch it again and then it might be 5 stars.

What an impressive film. Deep, lots of emotions and great acting. The ending had me by surprise though. Well done, I highly recommend this.
