Paul G I salute the britishness of the film as let's face it, its not going to sell well in any other country, and the storyline is about as niche as it gets. Is it any good? not really, there is nothing new here, lots of cliches with little originality other than the theme around costume fighting. Best avoided unfortunately. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/18/22 Full Review isla s This is quite a cheesy film - it's very much a British comedy, a bit of a slapstick farce type comedy. I enjoyed it as light entertainment. The cast is good (Jessica Hynes, Tim Healy, Kevin Eldon etc.) and while it's not exactly particularly memorable, its an easy and amusing watch. It features a fair amount of 1980s music, which may or may not be an issue for some perhaps?. I quite liked the nostalgic element to it though. Its a pleasant and distracting enough film, a reasonably good British comedy - no more, no less. I suppose I would recommend it, yes, as long as your ok with cheesy films about socially awkward, misfit type people. If you enjoyed the BBC4 series The Detectorists, then I imagine you'd enjoy this film, if that helps?. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is basically a "Run, Fatboy, Run", but for larping, kind of like in Role Models. The problem, if you want to call it that, is that the tone is slightly more dramatic and the resolution more confrontational. Even the larping is more of a realistic re-enactment style. Overall it's a good movie with a strong story, but it's just not a stand out. I enjoyed and would probably, eventually, enjoy it again, but there are so many movies out there, that I think I could probably recommend 10 movies with similar aspects before this. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Good light-hearted comedy Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member A cute movie about LARPing and bullies. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Predictable, but with some nice twists. Very much like Role Models, without the raunch. (Role Models rocks, for 16 and up) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Helen O'Hara Empire Magazine The laughs come few and far between in a story as drab as the Northern skies under which it is set. Rated: 2/5 Jan 23, 2009 Full Review Trevor Johnston Time Out It all feels very samey, the comic potential of the mock battles never approached with genuine enthusiasm but treated as a mere gag, and one which soon outstays its welcome. Amiable yet underwhelming. Rated: 2/6 Jan 23, 2009 Full Review James Christopher Times (UK) Faintheart is a wild folly. It's a romantic comedy devised, directed, cast, and produced by the online members of MySpace. In this slender respect it's a genuine sensation. But it looks and feels as knock-kneed as the ingredients. Rated: 1/5 Jan 23, 2009 Full Review Philip French Observer (UK) It's tiresome in its own way. Jan 28, 2009 Full Review Edward Porter Sunday Times (UK) What has emerged is an ordinary film that might have been made for television at any time in the past few decades. Rated: 2/5 Jan 28, 2009 Full Review Jon Fortgang Film4 Put away your eight-sided dice and go seek this immensely likable, sparky little comedy about fantasy, reality and love conquering all.
