John Leonard New York Magazine/Vulture We are... riveted by Ellen Perry's The Fall of Fujimori... Jan 17, 2018 Full Review Carina Chocano Los Angeles Times A confoundingly mercurial figure, Fujimori is a fascinating subject. But in her focus on the man, Perry fails to paint a broader picture of a racially diverse and extremely complex country marked by sharp class and socioeconomic contrasts. Rated: 3/5 May 6, 2006 Full Review Adam Nayman L.A. Weekly The film is a must-see for Perry's one-on-one chats with her subject. May 4, 2006 Full Review Eric Monder Film Journal International This enlightening nonfiction feature might be better suited to DVD or a showing on PBS, but it should maintain interest in any venue. Mar 1, 2007 Full Review Don Willmott Filmcritic.com If you're feeling dismayed about the state of American politics, here's a thought to cheer you up: at least you don't live in Peru. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 1, 2006 Full Review Jeremy Mathews Film Threat Thorough and fascinating. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 18, 2006 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Well made. I know very little about Peru so this film was an interesting insight. Perhaps someone who knows more about Peru than I do might say otherwise though. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Fujimori is a really interesting character, I believe this documentary captures that part very well; What it does fail to build is a more in depth background on his relationship with Montesinos, because, at least to me, that relationship raises more questions than answers. On the other hand, it could've also inquire a little more, for the sake of the ignorant and misinformed, on the development of the paramilitary forces that were being groped by Montesinos, with the supposedly 'uptake' or 'nescience' of Fujimori. I will also point out that it wastes a lot of precious running time on Fujimori's face, time that could've been used for the inquiry of the matters mentioned above. In the long run, it is quite informative despite the criticisms and mark outs. 4/5 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent Documentary Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Fascinating documentary about the charismatic Peruvian leader and what lead even his own wife to call for his ousting. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member All I can say is wow. How did I not know about any of this? What an incredibly well put together chronology of events. Excellent documentary. Check it out! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm a little conflicted after watching this film. On one hand, Fujimori seems like the perfect answer that Peru needed. But he also seems to have went about his accomplishments in a manner that was contrary to human rights. Yet he seems he totally accomplished what he went after and maintained a high popularity rating throughout all of it (and still today). But how different are Fujimori's actions in comparison with Bush's post-9/11 actions? I like that this documentary made me actually question who I thought was right and shows that Fujimori was a very capable President ... but I feel it glosses over and diminishes the human rights abuses it accuses him of.
