Critics Consensus

It's no Miracle on 34th Street, but viewers in the mood for some fa la la la Lohan will find Falling for Christmas as easy as falling on the couch.

Falling for Christmas has its moments, but overall, this cute Christmas movie is too predictable to really recommend.

Sandra Gonzalez CNN.com Some actors shoot for Oscars, and that’s great. Lohan’s magic power has always been bringing to life films that have the simple goal of being unchallenging delights. If for that and that alone, Falling for Christmas is a gift. Dec 7, 2022 Full Review Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's exactly what you want it to be. Nov 30, 2022 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times The overall mood is warm and cheery, and Lohan brings a spontaneous sincerity to even the corniest scenes. The movie’s wrapping is shiny and plastic, but its star quality is genuine. Nov 25, 2022 Full Review Tamma Moksha The Hindu Lindsay Lohan's stardom doesn't help this clichéd Christmas rom-com. Jun 11, 2024 Full Review Gissane Sophia Marvelous Geeks Media Lindsay Lohan’s return to romantic comedies feels like the best kind of homecoming for 90s kids. Lohan was a tremendous part of our lives growing up, and having her in a Christmas film as adults feels like a warm hug of sorts. Jul 23, 2023 Full Review Erin Maxwell LA Weekly/Village Voice The end result is perfect background noise for wrapping presents, or a good reason for a cackling friend-watch and group activity (while getting jolly and juiced). Astrid K This sweet story makes you dream away from the screen to the slopes of the Alps! Lindsay Lohan plays the role of Sierra/Sarah to perfection, and the Mean Girl reference is the cherry on top. A classic sweet, romantic Christmas movie where love can bloom in just 4 days and the whole town can gather on Christmas Eve. If you can look past realism and logic, the movie is definitely worth watching and will get you 100% in the Christmas spirit! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review Andrea K This was a nice movie. It had some elements I liked, but again it was just a bit of a basic Christmas movie. Glad I watched it, but wouldn’t watch it again. Loves the Mean Girl reference though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review Matt R I watched this movie because, like Tony Medley, my favorite movie is Freaky Friday. I consider Lohan to be a modern day Audrey Hepburn. But unfortunately this movie is no 1953 Roman Holiday. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review N P As Christmas movies go, it captured the magic, whimsy and family cheerful vibes one might expect. It's a step-up production and charm wise from your typical Hallmark Christmas movie. In large part, the production / directing team makes a basic premise a chill and fun watch that helps you escape into a simpler time, and Lindsay Lohan's charisma, star power and sweetness elevates the good-natured feel. The light-hearted repertoire and physical comedy is good for the whole family. A shoutout to Tad (played by George Young), as the superficial fiancé. He made his snooty character likeable in the most "Chad" like way and his comedic delivery was great. I do have to note that the main couple's chemistry was a bit lackluster with just a few glances that hinted the audience. There isn't really any twists and turns, and the story is quite predictable, but if there's good vibes, that's kind of all that matters in an enjoyable Christmas movie. Otherwise, the movie is a worth a watch for the holidays. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/09/24 Full Review Cathy S Very sweet and funny Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/31/24 Full Review Jerry R A really great movie. Lindsay Lohan was terrific as was the rest of the cast. Great scenery and a nice story. This is a very enjoyable 90 minutes, do not miss it.
