David Ansen Newsweek The Family Stone works hard to warm the cockles of our hearts. The cast is attractive. The sentiments are commendable. But the love Bezucha wants us to feel for the family couldn't possibly compete with the love they already feel for themselves. Pobre Sarah Jessica Parker... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/04/25 Full Review Mandy H This move was terrible. Movies are only great when it reflects and follows the main character to the end. This movie followed the side characters so much to the point that they pushed the main character out of the picture. The storyline is the guy brings home his fiance to meet his parents and ask for his grandmother's wedding ring. Everyone hates on the fiance - his siblings and his parents. The guy keeps reiterating that this is the girl he's going to marry and they keep telling him he shouldn't. I understand if you're looking out for a family member if their spouse is crazy or manipulative or something, but this girl is just different and they don't even try to make her feel welcomed. I think she has some sort of OCD or form of autism. She likes everything prim and proper, talks too much about certain things, and doesn't know how to fit in. The goal of this movie should have been focused on what it's like to leave your unsupportive family for the one you love, or about the family realizing that they've been jerks and they need to be more accepting and respectful. Instead, the main girl invited her sister for support, and immediately the whole family flocks to the sister like she's a goddess. The main guy character ends up breaking up with his fiance in the end, and the sister sticks around. Not only is it a bad ending, but that's a low blow on the sister's part for taking over her sister's ex-future. Do NOT recommend. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/04/25 Full Review Cecilia C the worst film i have ever watched. full of unecceptable jokes and the normalization of terrible behavior. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/01/25 Full Review Joel Z This is supposed to be a romcom/drama. It is not romantic or funny and the drama is just cringe. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/31/24 Full Review Jonathan H Oof. Incredibly boring "Christmas" movie with a cast full of unlikeable characters, perhaps with the exception of "Ben Stone" (Luke Wilson). Dermot Mulroney's character (Everett) is almost likeable but needs to grow a pair. Claire Danes' character might be likeable but we'll never know, because she had almost no screen time. How would I sum up this waste of all that good talent? Pretentious, awkward and pointless. The tone is all over the place here and it's really weird/aggravating. There was almost nothing funny or inspiring or moving in this film. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/28/24 Full Review joe d I am as good as you. Yes of course you are dear.
