To add a touch of English sophistication to her New Mexican estate, Effie (Lea Penman) convinces Humphrey (Bob Hope), a man she thinks is a British butler, to come to the United States in her employ. In reality, "Humphrey" is Arthur, a struggling American actor in need of a job. When Effie returns, the residents of their small town assume that "Humphrey" is the distinguished husband-to-be of Effie's tomboy daughter, Agatha (Lucille Ball) -- and Arthur is forced to play along.

Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies George Marshall directs Bob Hope and Lucille Ball to their fullest comic potential with laughs that never cease in the hysterical Fancy Pants. Rated: 4/5 Feb 22, 2023 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy The best bit is easily Hope’s “Three against a thousand” tall tale of derring-do. Rated: 2.5/4 Nov 12, 2022 Full Review Clyde Gilmour Maclean's Magazine Bob Hope manages to be amusing quite a bit of the time while masquerading as a member of the British nobility in the Wild West. The Paleface was funnier, but this one is pretty good. StephenPaul C LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 32 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!! Starring Bob Hope and Lucille Desiree Ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/23/23 Full Review christopher c. m A classic comedy with some old western stereotypes that some today will out in arms about forgetting that it's 1950, not today and things were different back then. The buzz term is "Didn't age well." Movies are a product of their times, they reflect the sense of humor and the world around them. It is the rare movie that is considered "timeless" and most filmmaker don't try to it either. If you only want a movie that isn't aged or timeless then you have a low number of movies to watch, my friend. But back to the movie, there are some mild character traits. But overall, it's a classic for a reason. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The best comedy movie ever made! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member One of my favorite movies of all time!!!... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member George Marshall's 'Fancy Pants' is a charming slapstick remake of Leo McCarey's 'Ruggles of Red Gap', unpretentious, funny and elevated by Bob Hope and Lucille Ball luminous performances. Burlesque, colourful, anc having screwball aspects 'Fancy Pants' is also an interesting glance at wealth and elegance, and a likeable manner to spend an hour and a half, whose dimension doesn't permit me to give it a higher rating. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Paramount's remake of RUGGLES OF RED GAP, with songs and Bob Hope; colorful fun.
