Kirk H NO other film depicting Ancient Egypt employs accurate costumes, situations, behaviour, portrayal or conduct. To be produced in Poland it is odd. However, we have noticed that film production on Polish films is almost always far beyond what Hollywood or other film-making entities are willing to provide. 100 STARS. If you're interested in Egyptian history this is the ONLY film that might give you a glimpse of its reality and splendour. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Duncan P On its own, an excellent film. Engaging, interesting, and sufficiently epic, plus the visual depiction of the Labyrinth is brilliantly claustrophobic. As an adaptation of Prus' excellent novel, my complaints are mostly that a certain amount of Prus' more interesting subtleties are lost, and the film suffers from a little bit of telling instead of showing, though this is also forgivable given that film is somewhat more limited in scope than a 700-odd page novel. My biggest problem with the adaptation is that the cutting down of certain minor details shifts the meaning of the story (especially the climax) somewhat, despite having essentially the same events, but that might just be my complaint. It's certainly not a big enough complaint to give a negative review of the film by any stretch, but it is something to be aware of if you go in having read the book before. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Cine Histórico en estado puro........ Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member epic ,authentic and diligently detailed with 100s of finely made dresses, military uniforms, wigs and carriages and weapons , slow rhythm enhanced by strong bewitching desert's compositions . on the other hand the plot is a bit boring full of weird allegories .. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Polish film on the basis of Boleslav Prus' book of the same title. Jerzy Zelnik is beautiful and convincing as the pharaoh, despite the grey paint on his face. Surprisingly modern at times, the film is full of creative solutions to avoid bloated budgets but this just adds to its charm. Great film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews
