Efforts involving miniature work and practical effects sat well; I just wish this movie didn’t feel so much like a fish out of water. Go to Full Review

There are those shark tales where it's clear there was no desire for uniqueness, causing the final product to get lost at sea, so to speak. Thankfully, Fear Below isn't, or rather it shouldn't be, one of those movies. Go to Full Review

Daniel L Nov 9 Clearly low budget but ok for a B-grade movie. Not great. The gorgeous Hermione Corfield is a highlight. See more Ashley R Nov 8 This movie is ok-ish, the storyline was good but didn’t keep me entertained. The CGI on the shark wasn’t good. All and all a D grade shark movie. See more Shaun M Oct 19 Poor acting. Trope after trope. Like most of Holmes' other films, everyones costumes are clean and fresh of the rack, barely any dirt. Still suffers from the sanitised style of directing we've seen in Twin Rivers and Ben Hall. Let's hire all the friends we know from school and church and maybe throw in a b grade actor. At least in this one, characters are permitted a few swear words unlike TWIN RIVERS, where characters didn't light their cigarettes and people were told to "Go to Heck". For a guy who complained about lack of funding, he's sure pumping out the B grade movies. See more Samuel N Oct 14 I think they have made a great movie that is well worth the watch. Fantastic acting yet again by Jake Ryan See more Ron S Oct 2 A wonderful straight forward story. A well done action shark film. Better than most shark films I've seen. See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Sep 28 Fear Below — a film I finally managed to track down after confusing it with another movie called Below — turns out to be yet another disappointing entry in the long line of forgettable shark films. For a movie centered on a deadly creature, it somehow manages to make the shark feel like a background extra instead of the star of the show. It’s baffling that, decades after Jaws, filmmakers still can’t seem to understand how to make the animal the true focus. Instead, the shark barely shows up, and when it does, it’s far from terrifying. The movie tries to blend old-school suspense with modern tension, but it ends up feeling stuck in the middle — a confused mix of Hitchcock-style pacing and lackluster underwater chaos. The problem isn’t just the concept; it’s how it’s executed. The screenplay drags on endlessly, with scenes that feel repetitive and characters making choices that defy logic. The direction doesn’t help either — it’s as if the cast was led straight into the water just to have something happen, even when every bit of common sense says they should’ve stayed out of it. There’s no real buildup, no emotional connection, and no genuine fear. Instead, the film meanders through its plot with people conveniently dying or being thrown around, and none of it lands the way it should. The pacing is so sluggish that even the shark attacks lose their bite. At the end of the day, Fear Below feels like it missed every opportunity to be suspenseful, thrilling, or even mildly entertaining. It’s the kind of movie you could put on when you want something to fall asleep to — not because it’s relaxing, but because it’s just that uneventful. Unless you’re an absolute completionist for shark films or desperate for background noise, this one’s best left unseen. See more Read all reviews
