Young, assertive Felicity Merriman (Shailene Woodley) lives with her mother (Marcia Gay Harden) and father (John Schneider) in colonial Virginia, where the movement toward breaking away from British rule is growing. Felicity is looking for her own kind of freedom and discovers it in the form a beautiful horse that she rescues from its cruel owner. As the American Revolution begins, Felicity finds comfort in her equine friend, but still has to contend with tumultuous changes in her life.

08/20/2018 "Felicity: An American Girl Adventure" (2005) does a wonderful job at retelling the books. It intrigues the viewer. It handles mature concepts well. It has an interesting (and well-found) cast. Its costumes are beautiful. Its soundtrack is banging. Its only downfall is that it includes "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik," which hadn't been written yet. It's pretty well crafted for a made for TV film, and Shailene Woodley is actually a very likable if not unassuming lead (biggest points go to Marsha Gay Harden for being the most pleasant). This is cute, but has a limited audience. Parents will tire after a single view, while their daughters will clamor to see it every day.
