Glenn Kenny New York Times None of these faces and bodies belong to actors, but it won't do to call this powerful film a documentary. Audience Member This film is loving portrait of a class of people who don't otherwise have a platform to speak. Its about homelessness, drug abuse and living a life of crime. It will challenge your preconceptions of what it means to be truly marginalized. If you liked Hale County In The Morning In The Evening, this is a great companion film. It has that dreamlike vibe. It uses a lot of slow motion shots of people staring into the lens. You hear their voices but their lips aren't moving so its like their souls are speaking directly to you. The filmmaker says at some point that he captures the soul with his photography. His goal to alleviate people's paid and let it loose into the world so we, the audience, can witness it and maybe take away some of its power. You hear the filmmaker's voice in there too so he get a sense of how he builds relationships with people to get the disarmingly vulnerable confessions from sex workers, drug addicts and robbers. You won't forget this one. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
