B F @RT16262870 Apr 9 Field Post depicts the Courland battles in 1944 Latvia through the eyes of two Waffen SS friends who support each other through the war. The unit is a sort of catch-all for remaining soldiers from a number of different outfits. Their commander is a kind father figure. The soldiers appreciate him. What a fine group of friendly guys. They encounter a couple of non-German who help the Nazis because they hate the Bolsheviks. It's said that "half of Europe is helping us fight the Russians." The movie ends in 1949 when the friends are reunited. Happy, happy story of friendship and camaraderie. It's not mentioned that the Waffen SS committed massive atrocities in Latvia, and that the Nazi Wehrmacht murdered and burned whole villages as they went. They collected Slavs, Roma, Sinti and Jewish people for the Einsatzgruppen to murder. The movie got a couple points for the cinematography, but this revisionist crap is disgusting. Best part was the execution of Waffen SS troops. See more Read all reviews
