Audience Member This is a standard rom-com but from a community that doesn't often get to be heard. It has plenty to recommend it and is light, well acted and pleasant. It could have focused more tightly on the central characters and would then have been excellent in its genre but its still a nice watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant movie,Brilliant Production Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely amazing film by British Muslim TV. Realistic and relatable. Whirl wind of emotion. Funny all the way through 100% recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely BRILLIANT!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member The film falls with clunky, unrealistic dialogue which doesn't flow, flat characters with no development and flesh, and a weird use of sound mixing that just lets down the production value of the film. Only saving grace is the chemistry of the two lead actors who we don't see together enough as the film decides to focus on one-dimensional supporting and minor characters. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Really good fun - a lighthearted story with a proper British style and humour throughout ?? Kate Muir Times (UK) There are some funny scenes, including a blind date in a caf with the brother of a veiled woman who is not allowed to speak for herself, but the comedy often falls flat in a simplistic script. Rated: 2/5 Apr 21, 2017 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian The cast are lumbered with a bafflingly lame and leaden script and plodding direction that wouldn't pass muster for TV in a thousand years. Rated: 1/5 Apr 20, 2017 Full Review Ellie Walker-Arnott Time Out Feelgood, but a little flimsy. Rated: 2/5 Apr 18, 2017 Full Review Louise Burrell One Room With A View The sad thing is, the cast genuinely give it their all, but the flabby script and lack of direction let them down. Even the editing, which should be so smooth it goes unnoticed, is poor - with lingering shots after the characters move out of view. Rated: 2/5 Mar 5, 2019 Full Review MaryAnn Johanson Flick Filosopher There's lots to like in this mostly sweet British Muslim rom-com. Pity, then, that it tries too hard, instead of trusting its characters, and sabotages itself. Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 21, 2017 Full Review Trevor Johnston Radio Times While refreshing to see the British Muslim community represented in everyday life, ultimately a comedic love story with low-wattage romance and few chuckles has limited appeal.
