During the course of the film, the intern looks at the profession from the inside and realizes many moral principles. Some of the moments are very touching, so I have to admit that the film is deservedly a drama. The end of the movie is both bad and good. One of the group of firefighters dies valiantly, but the other finds his family. The storyline is quite unexpected, so the film is quite exciting.
I can single out Alexey Sokolov and Roman Ilyin as the main characters, played by Konstantin Khabensky and Ivan Yankovsky. I consider the other roles to be secondary, but no less important. I really liked the performance of such actors as Tikhon Zhiznevsky, Konstantin Khabensky, Ivan Yankovsky, Viktor Dobronravov. The special effects and decorations conveyed that terrifying feeling of a natural disaster very well.
I liked the film very much for the impeccable acting and the work of the cameramen. It lasts 2 hours and 12 minutes. Probably this film will touch any person who is not indifferent to someone else's trouble. I recommend watching this movie. I wouldn't say it's a great movie, but who am I to judge? I'm American, and this is a very very Russian comic-thriller, even if it IS badly dubbed in fairly believable colloquial American English. Hollywood English? The lips don't move right, but that honestly didn't bother me, as long as I continued to remind myself that this is a Russian movie. Intended for an American audience would be my guess. The plot was more than a bit contrived and not at all believable, but overall the movie was entertaining. I didn't recognize any of the usual American cliches. The film's protagonist is a bit of a rebel, but very brave, trying to win the respect of his love interest's father. And boy, is he in love! The storyline promotes values like heroism, sacrifice, loyalty and love for family and community. Hmmmm, interesting, That! Dare I say maybe even a little "ma-ga-resemblant"? They're not that different from US, and yet we're a million miles apart. At least that's what I walked away with.

Overall, this is a solid survival film that felt very 90s and honourable to firefighters worldwide. The plot feels familiar at first but soon changes dramatically with its story and even introduces unpredictable moments relating to the danger and risks faced by our leads. Fire is filled with action and carries intense moments of drama and suspense. The film successfully entertained and gripped me; unfortunately, the Australian DVD release has dubbed voice-overs in English instead of in Russian, which I feel affects the film and some key characters more than I preferred.

I thought this was a good film - the characters were pretty interesting, even if it is a little cliched. It made me think of the US drama show 9-1-1. Of course the firefighters live up to their heroic image, well somewhat anyway - their all pretty macho type guys, which is maybe to be expected. Yes its a Russian film and so I guess it may seem a bit unfortunate to watch such a film in the current (news related) climate but this film was made a couple of years ago and really its a tale that applies to pretty much any country, with themes relevant to most places.
I quite admired some of the female characters, friends relatives of the fighters - how they responded to the burly firefighters, putting them in their place at times. That gave me a wry smile. This is an action film, though not every scene is chock full of action but there are some pretty good effects - one involving a bus crossing treacherous land I'm unlikely to forget too soon. It's no bad thing there are some slower paced scenes though, they provide time to develop the characters and give the audience more of an idea of peoples backgrounds. Its fairly fast paced for the most part and I thought it was quite a tense and sometimes quite gripping watch, so yes, I'd recommend it, even though it is a bit cheesy. I thought it reflected some of the real dangers such people must face in trying to protect communities from natural disasters, although some things that happened were a little less believable but it was a gripping and good watch overall, yes.
