Audience Member I do like cricket and the classic Windies team but this is a big standard documentary with too many nobodies commenting alongside a few of the stars. The stars have covered this better elsewhere such as in some of Sky TV cricket productions that have been far superior. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the best documentaries I have watched and no documentaries could make cricket look so breathtakingly spectacular. The rise of one of the most inspiring and dreaded cricket team of West Indies led by valiant Clive lloyd, the movie is all about how did bunch of calypso youngsters went on to conquer the world and rule for over two decades.A must watch not only for cricket enthusiasts but everyone who want something to get inspired. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member LOVE cricket, & loved this documentary! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Sporting videos can be disappointing. Fans only. This one isn't. It has context and emotion that elevate it above the game itself. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review robbie v Test cricket was a beast of a sport in the 70/80s. This movie certainly doesn't place Australian cricket fans of that era in a good light. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member True Story of an "Underdog" team...who ruled the cricket world for 15 years...... a MUST WATCH..for all the cricket fans.... Mike Hale New York Times It all adds up to an entertaining 88 minutes, despite the film's ramshackle construction and its once-over-lightly approach to political, cultural and athletic history. Rated: 3/5 Jul 22, 2011 Full Review Nick Schager Village Voice Riley shrewdly maintains focus on how the players co-opted the merciless tactics of their invective-hurling adversaries for their own, and the region's, self-actualization. Jul 19, 2011 Full Review Philip French Guardian It's a rousing film about ex-colonials uniting to assert their pride and to recover a dignity that continued to be denied them by the English and Australians. May 23, 2011 Full Review Simon Weaving Screenwize A sparkling - if perhaps somewhat nostalgic - documentary about the transformation of the West Indies "calypso" style of cricket in the 1970s, resulting in a team that dominated the game around the world Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 23, 2011 Full Review Thomas Caldwell Cinema Autopsy Like all great documentaries, Fire in Babylon transcends its immediate subject matter to be a film with universal appeal. Rated: 4/5 Aug 13, 2011 Full Review Kam Williams NewsBlaze An invaluable lesson that there can be social consequences attached to playing a sport without a conscience even if you're the best around at throwing, whacking or catching a ball. Just ask Muhammad Ali. Rated: 3/4 Aug 1, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews
