Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle Float rises higher than expectations due in part to the delicate cinematography by Alfonso Chin, and by the additions in LaVercombe and Lee's script. Rated: 3/5 Feb 22, 2024 Full Review Peter Rainer FilmWeek (LAist) I didn't think they had a whole lot of chemistry, which is a problem for a movie like this. Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Will Bjarnar InSession Film Unless filmmakers are willing — or able — to craft something new in this genre, or at worst, to convey a fresh sensation from something familiar, perhaps it's best not to try altogether. Rated: D Jul 2, 2024 Full Review Stephanie Archer Film Inquiry While it initially starts in a relatable sense to the audience, it loses much of its authenticity and charm in the lackluster filler and predictability, drowning with no chance of rescue. Mar 5, 2024 Full Review Sandie Angulo Chen Common Sense Media As a movie, however, the bows are all tied up a little too neatly, and the romance, while between two twenty-somethings, still gives off first-love vibes. Feb 20, 2024 Full Review Al Alexander Movies Thru the Spectrum Bang does what she can with the material, but is left drowning in cliches. Rated: C Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

jada H. I wish it was more like the book Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/13/25 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie, it's really well made. Andrea Bang knocked it out of the park. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Ellie C The movie, Float, is an eh for me. I personally read the book which was obviously big enough for them to make a movie on. I think that even though movies often leave out scenes from books, they left out some really important scenes. Blake doesn’t start out as some nice welcoming dude(he’s standoffish and rude), she hid she couldn’t swim by saying she got stuck in a wave pool, the twins worked an ice cream shop and not a bar, she got her bathing suit from Alissa before getting lessons. The HUGE surfing scene where she’s scared because she can’t swim and Blake is with her the whole time. Not to mention Blake did have parents and his little sister was a toddler/baby. If I excluded the book and just looked at the movie, it’d be a decent movie just not memorable at the least. There wasn’t much chemistry between the characters and they kind of drug on something without adding any “spice”. I was excited for Waverly and Blake’s characters, but they were just dull. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/06/24 Full Review Daniel G Nice coming-of-age movie with a late blooming young lady who's already ready for medical residency and takes a break at a pictoresque location with totally cool people and just a little tension between her love-interest and his sister. Though conventional, the acting was strong and raised the level just a bit. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/06/24 Full Review Sai M If you like sweet and romantic getaway stories that take place in tiny close knit communities with enigmatic and quirky characters this movie will be right up your alley. Waverly is in a predicament where she is trying to navigate both who she is, who her family wants her to be, and who she is meant to become. It leads her to make some rash decisions and go spend some time with a relative she hasn't seen for a while, but who offers her an instant warm welcome to her tiny little world and the people that make up her daily life. It's all about to learning to breathe through her trials that pushes the story but the introduction of unexpected romance only makes it that much sweeter when she meets her aunt's neighbors. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/23/24 Full Review Zhao Z There are not many romance movies on screen now days unless you're talking of the low rent Hallmark movies. Float passes the time away but isn't memorable in any way. While some don't like it, if you like romance movies check out "Greatest Hits" that has both an interesting premise and some original dialogue.
